Amazon: Usability Testing
Challenge:
Amazon worked with my Masters level Usability Testing class in order to understand how users were interacting with their new Artist Entity pages. They specifically wanted to learn how to make these pages more compelling information and interaction hubs as well as buying experiences for music enthusiasts. I worked in a three-person team with two other students for this project.
Test Design:
Amazon is well known as a destination to buy music and other products. But the company is not yet known for being the go-to site for information about various artists nor as a community hub for fans to interact with one another. This is why a comparison study between Last.fm -- which has a vibrant and active music-listening community -- and Amazon proved to be pivotal in the study design. Based on a set of criteria, participants were chosen who were both 1) active Amazon customers and 2) music enthusiasts.
Results:
We presented our key findings and recommendations directly to Amazon's team. These can be downloaded in set of deliverables in the gray sidebar above.
