Solving climate change -- one of the biggest, toughest problems facing humanity -- is not a one-person job. It requires the intelligence, skills, and perspectives of people from different
organizations and across sectors. People need a place to come together, share ideas, learn from one another, and build the kind of relationships and alliances necessary to work together to create lasting change. What is one of the best platforms for facilitating these kinds of interactions and outcomes? Conferences! While some of us have been to conferences
conferences that changed our lives with the ideas and/or people we came across -- most of us have also been disappointed by poorly designed conferences (or unconferences). Most of us have experienced amazing opportunities being wasted. Perhaps youve found yourself surrounded by intelligent, dynamic people, but the structure of the conference didnt quite allow you to grab ahold and make the connections and learn the things you were hoping to.
For my Capstone project, Paul Simons and I worked with Groundwire and Social Venture Partners to design a conference that would encourage people from different sectors in the Pacific Northwest to see themselves as and be inspired by -- being part of a larger movement.
