Electronic Medical System redesign

Challenge

For my summer internship in 2010, I was hired as a User Experience Designer by  OpenMRS' Darius Jazayeri. (Darius received the 2009 Pizzigati Prize for Software in the Public Interest 

Work tasks: gathered user requirements, completed competitive analysis, conducted contetual inquiries, sketched design ideas and mocked wireframes.

Deliverables: 

for his work with OpenMRS).  I was tasked with redesigning the user interface of OpenMRS (Open Medical Record System) based on a user's "role" at a hospital or clinic. 

Background

OpenMRS is an open source platform currently being used in  a number of developing countries. With the developing world being ravaged disproportionately byHIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria, efficient information management systems are critical for effective prevention and patient treatment.
